Great book! Book is bigger than I was expecting which is great! Plenty of room and I don't feel I have to squish my practice into tiny spaces. This is the third book I have purchased on the topic and my favorite thus far for the following reasons: (1) it's spiral bound as all hand lettering and calligraphy books should be. (2) The focus is on practicing strokes and lettering. I bought one book that seemed to rush me through that and the back half of the book was filled with projects. Which is great if you are experienced but if you are a beginner, you definitely need more practice before tackling a piece of artwork you intend to display. (3) Did I mention the size? There is so much room in this book to practice the myriad of alphabet styles presented.Great resource for beginners and veterans alike! Love the versatility of Pretty Simple Lettering! Whitney makes hand-lettering accessible to beginners, but also incorporates unique ways to sharpen a veterans skills. There are multiple alphabet tutorials on different styles of lettering which I find VERY useful for variated event styles (wedding vs. graduation vs. baby shower, etc). Other hand lettering guides I have come across have only included one, maybe two lettering styles with full alphabets attached. Worth every penny!Very user friendly I like the fact that she provides worksheets to practice the different styles. I really like the idea that she has a whole page describing the different brushes/pens you need to use for each style. As a former educator, I appreciate the fact that simply practicing the skill over and over will lead to some level of mastery. Am anxious to start this "practicing". I'm going out today to purchase the different writing tools. I'd like her to create a video to illustration the actual strokes.
